Looking at St. Louis a Little Differently

I’ve seen and taken photos of the Gateway Arch countless times, but every now and then a view makes you stop and look a little longer.

What caught my attention today wasn’t just the Arch itself—it was the reflection.

Standing beside the water, the Arch seems almost doubled, stretching high into the sky and deep into the stillness below. It’s one of those moments that reminds you how much beauty can be found when you slow down long enough to notice it.

Living in St. Louis, it’s easy to take landmarks like the Arch for granted. It becomes part of the skyline, something you pass by or see in the distance without giving it much thought. But on days like this, it feels different. It reminds you why it has become such an iconic symbol of the city.

The calm water, the bright blue sky, and the trees framing the Arch create a sense of peace that can be hard to find in the middle of busy schedules and endless to-do lists. For a moment, everything feels still.

Sometimes we don’t need to rush to the next destination. Sometimes it’s enough to pause, take in the view, and appreciate where we are right now.

The Gateway Arch was built as a monument to exploration and new beginnings. Looking at it reflected in the water, I couldn’t help but think that those ideas are just as relevant today. Whether we’re starting a new job, moving to a new city, pursuing a goal, or simply figuring out what comes next, we’re all on our own journey.

And every once in a while, it’s worth taking a moment to reflect on how far we’ve already come.
